Individual Support (Ageing and Disability)

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to clients who require support due to ageing, disability, or some other reason.

During the course, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills for providing physical, social and emotional support to clients. Additionally, you will develop the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, including with other professionals like nurses and healthcare workers.

Delivery options: Full-time and part-time options are available. The scheduled duration of the course is approximately 6 months full-time and 12 months part-time for classroom training. 

Government funding is available through the Higher Level Skills program. Eligible participants must:

  • Be a Queensland resident
  • Be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
  • Not hold a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training; and
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, not including foundation skills training.
